Default The Curtis Turner Museum

I'm just a bit young to have seen Curtis Turner race, but I always loved reading about him. I thought I would share this link with my friends here. It's run by his daughter, Margaret Sue Turner Wright.

Curtis Turner was before my time as a nascar fan too, but I've heard some interesting things about him.
One story I heard was that Big Bill France banned him from nascar when he tried to organize the drivers to form a union. When Big Bill finally let him come back to nascar a few years later, he won the first race he entered.

Another one I heard was that one of his car owners complained about how he looked. He wanted Curtis to clean up his appearance some. So the next race Curtis showed up in a suit and tie and ran the race that way. lol

I would have had a blast hanging out with him and Joe Weatherly. I've read a lot of stories about him as a pilot, including a "Here, you take the wheel" moment (to non-pilot Joe Weatherly) and a "Want to see it up close?" moment with a potential timber buyer. I don't know if I would have got into a plane with him, but even that might have been fun.
