And man, I can't wait. Haven't smelled the aroma of hot tires or heard the wonderful music of roaring engines since Homestead.
I'll have my laptop with me so I'll be able to pop in when cell phone access allows. |

Bristol Report As you all saw, the first part of the weekend was ... soggy. And cold. Really really cold. If it hadn't been for my friend, who lives down there, I'da been a popsicle all weekend. Welllllll..... the weatherman said it was going to be partly cloudy Saturday and sunny on Sunday with highs in the 70's both days. Boy, were they wrong! But my friend loaned me a warm coat and gloves so I was happy as clams. The dirt track race at Bull's Gap was rained out as was the Busch race. And those of you familiar with the campground just across from the track ... it was perfect for mud bogging. The vendor who was selling shoes made a killing! But ------ we had groups of friends coming from all over the country to get together and we did have a ball. The race was really good, too. Lots of lead changes and passing and some good racing otherwise. It was, overall, a very clean race. Some interesting things going on on the track too that the cameras probably didn't catch and the announcers never pick up on. For the longest time, Tony was working over Jeff Gordon to pass him but each time Tony got a good run there was a lapped car in the way. I don't know if it was just coincidence or perfect timing but it was fun to watch. And Brian Vickers is going to hear about taking Jimmie's head of steam away from him at a crucial point. I'll betcha that was on the staff meeting agenda today. The crash involving Kurt Busch and Jeff Burton was the scariest I'd seen in a long while. Dead center head on. It was good to see both of them climb out of their cars. And the barbequed turkey legs went up a dollar. |
