I had time to think about this over the past 2 hours of how I want to say this: When I say things like "I'm picking (inset driver's name here) for jinxing purposes", I'm saying it all in good fun and maybe to ruffle feathers alittle bit without really trying to piss people off. Just like when I said "I'm picking Kyle Busch to jinx him", you should notice that I was being sarcastic when I said it. The evil-grim emoticon that I used should back up what I'm saying here. Did I really have the power to cause Kyle Busch to wreck? NO! Did I really have the power to cause Kyle Busch to win the CUP race when I changed my tune about jinxing him? NO! Things do happen for a reason and there's higher power named God that has the absolute ability to make things happen as He wills. Whether you believe in God or not, that's your choice and I'm not gonna debate it with anybody but that's what I truly believe. I never really truly believed that I had the power to jinx people because if I did, my driver would be succeeding every week.

And I do want to apologize to EVERYONE for my actions tonight......I should have went with my instincts to just ignore BEF's post but my ego got the best of me and I acted immature. Takes alot of guts for me to admit that but I can feel better knowing that I am at least apologizing for my part and no one can say at I didn't at least own up to my mistakes. I'm not gonna offer any excuses, I just flat out screwed up tonight and for that I apologize. Have a good night.

It's really hard to express emotion on a message board. Typed words can't show physical emotion and that's the biggest downside with communication on message boards like this particular board.

But that being said, I do respect your willingness to admit you made a mistake and apologize, many people cannot, Racing being a sporting event will attract some smack talk, and you are right message boards can become hostile without some good efforts to keep them civil. Sometime it is best to get some fresh air, take a walk, mow the lawn etc.. to cool off and realize the merits of being friendly before dishing out more snark( not targeting you , just reflecting because I have to guard my own impulses as well, and I certainly would take some comments back in life that were unfortunate, if I could). I participate on another forum unrelated to racing, and it has become more hostile during the last few months, were insults have become bigger than the ideas, it is a sad thing to witness. I have really cut back on my posting there on almost anything related to current events , because I became weary of having my motives or intelligence insulted for simply having a different POV. What I really hate is that there are very few forums were people actually say anything, and still manage to be respectful or friendly. I do like the atmosphere here overall I just wish we had a little more traffic, and hey believe it or not a hundred years form now they probably will not be talking NASCAR 2009, but someone may read our comments and get a good laugh over the things we worried about. |
