Like SF I completely agree.
But even with that criteria it's still difficult to choose only 5.
The first group should be at least 10 IMNSHO?

Personally I think the first group should be at least 10.

I have no problem with a team trying to cheat, but what does IMNSHO mean?
I have no problems with teams "cheating" as in finding loopholes and such. But ol'e DW used Nitrous Oxide at least once, they put buckshot in a compartment in the car so that it would weigh legal on inspection then dumped the buckshot out gradually during the race to lighten the car. That isn't going around the rules; that is tearing them out of the book and using them as TP.

Sorry.. got a phone call and hit post on that before I finished, then I had to go to the drug store and stopped to get something to eat... wait ... this isn't Twitter. Ooops.

IMNSHO = In My No So Humble Opinion.

See, I usually am very humble. Its one of my greatest assets along with my incredible beauty, outstanding intelligence, unstinting generosity and superb personality. But mostly I am very humble.

Oh... I thought it was something dirty.

I noticed your humility in your post. It was drenched in it.

You were hoping it was something dirty ... did I mention my sultry sexiness?

So now everybody knows why I feel so terrible that I missed out on being wed to Scooters. Heck, she wouldn't even have to take my name, I would take hers, if that would do it.

Too late, she's already taken.

I agree with almost everyone else on this thread that the inaugural class should be ten. I know not everyone likes NASCAR, but there would be no NASCAR without Big Bill France, and if he hadn't done it, somebody else would have come along and done something similar. But Big Bill deserves to be there.

My other 4

Herb Thomas
Bud Moore
Buck Baker
Curtis Turner

Big Bill not only deserves to be there, but he deserves to be at the top of the list... or in a prominent place and larger than the others. Like Revvn said, it was his concept and his work that gave us NASCAR.

My nominees are:
Alan Kulwicki - for showing that it COULD be done
Chris Econimacki (I know I butchered that spelling) - for bringing NASCAR to the masses
Smokey Yunick - a brilliant innovator

Eventually any other driver besides Alan will be nominated but those are the three that might otherwise be overlooked.

First off I don't think Big Bill France belongs on the nominee list at all..........why should anyone need to vote him in? Without him there would be no voting at all! Big Bill is a given and should be the first inductee automatically.....

My other four would be....

Raymond Parks
Red Byron
Herb Thomas
Lee Petty

The rest of the people on the list of nominees no doubt will make it in, but shouldn't they start with the guys that got the thing rolling in the first place?
