Schrader back in Wood Brothers' No. 21 Ford
SCENEDAILY - 4:51PM ET TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 2007 - BY SCENEDAILY STAFF REPORT Officials from Wood Brothers/JTG Racing say Ken Schrader would be back in the team's No. 21 Ford for the Sylvania 300 Nextel Cup race at New Hampshire International Speedway. Schrader last raced the No. 21 at Darlington in May before former champion Bill Elliott took over. Elliott used only one of six past champions provisionals available to him, and the No. 21 team moved from 40th to 35th in the Nextel Cup owners standings since then. "I'm really excited to get back to driving the Little Debbie Ford," Schrader said. "I think the time that I've spent racing in the Craftsman Truck Series and all of the personal racing, I've not only kept busy, but sharp. I look forward to working with [crew chief] Michael McSwain this weekend and see if we can't come up with a setup and a plan that keeps this team moving forward." The No. 21 team is only 19 points ahead of the No. 22 Bill Davis Racing team and driver Dave Blaney in the battle for the final guaranteed starting spot. "It's been a long climb for us and it is most certainly not over yet," team co-owner Eddie Wood said. "I feel like the fight to get in the top 35 - and stay in the top-35 - is probably going to come down to the wire this year. "As for what happens next week or the week after that, we just don't know right now. For us, it's going to come down to a common sense decision depending on where we end up with the points. That's been our reality all year long." Schrader is also entered in the truck series race at NHIS for Bobby Hamilton Racing. "I can't wait to get back to work with Ken and get our chemistry up and running like we had it before," McSwain said. "We'll be working pretty hard this weekend, investigating every angle we can about track conditions. Ken's truck series run is probably going to give us a bit of advantage that we can use come Sunday." Schrader back in Wood Brothers' No. 21 Ford
