If you race long enough all luck evens out. The truth is feeling that a poor performance of a team is bad luck, will eventually disappoint you. Some more truth, hendricks motor sports was all about JG from 1993-2001, but now he has had to share with other teammates and while he still is formidable competitor, there is no excuse for his teams performance week in and week out last year, especially if you want to be in the class of the greats. That team was intact, and no one stepped up. HE really hasn't been a good threat for the championship since the wealth sharing started. When the 20 struggles, Stewart still keeps them in the hunt, but I have never blamed bad luck on his teams over all performance. When he has crappy cars, I call them crappy and he needs to be a big part of getting things right. When his attitude seems to wane, I am on his case. These top financed teams have no excuse for being lame ducks for very long.JMO

I agree with you but I don't think having one bad yeart makes the driver a "lame duck". I'm sure Tony will have his scare of having a bad year. Every driver go through with it.

It's gonna come down to Jeff and Tony for the title.

I agree if it is driver error,or just a sucky car set up.But if a driver gets caught up in something, or gets wrecked, that is what I call 'bad luck.'

Every team has bad luck, my point was don't get bad luck mixed up with poor performance. As for the number of wins gordon has, it is doubtful anyone will have more. Reasons, the competition is much more of an issue in the last few years. I think gordon should be proud of himself, but he had a superior car week in and week out for several years, and there is no denying that. Evernham learned tire pressure tricks that allowed him to take two, go from say 6th to first coming off pit road during the late race caution and drive off at the end of many races. Outstanding engineers, a full time pit crew, contributed greatly to his success too. You won't see one team have it all anymore, tooooo competitive. I am more inclined to rate a driver and compare him to the new era. Gordon has done well, but he doesn't stand out. There is no denying JJ has outperformed him since he came aboard and started sharing the garage, that says something.
