Default Bodine Wins Talladega

Bodine Wins Talladega Thriller

Todd Bodine pulled off a last lap move to win his third straight NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series superspeedway race and take the checkered flag in Saturday's Mountain Dew 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Bodine pulled around leader Kyle Busch as the field raced three and four-wide to the checkered flag on the final lap and was able to cross the finish line first to score his second straight win in the event.

He also won the season-opening race at Daytona and has now won every superspeedway race on the series' schedule over the last year.

“I was just going to push Kyle and help him get a win and try to have a good points day,” Bodine said.

Ron Hornaday was able to sneak by for second to take the series point lead while Busch settled for third.

"Nothing really I could have done differently,” Busch said. “I guess a third place at Talladega is pretty good.”

The last lap drama was ahead of a multi-truck incident that broke out as the field raced down the backstretch.

Jon Wood, Joey Logano and others made contact with each other and the outside wall but NASCAR did not throw the caution flag.

The lead pack raced through turns three and four to the finish as the mangled trucks slid to a halt on the back straightaway.

No one was injured in the incident.

Hornaday now has a 39 point lead on Johnny Benson in the series standings.

"I’ve never been a big points racer,” Hornaday said. “Heck, maybe the way it is I can go to Homestead and relax down there.”

The Crafstman Truck Series now heads to Martinsville Speedway on October 18 for the Kroger 200.
